Search FAQs

Each day there are approximately 444 Million searches done on the Internet. That's about 13.23 Billion searches being done each month.
Internet Marketing is still in its infancy. Yet one thing seems clear already - companies that position themselves at the top of Google (on popular search terms) are growing and adding to their market share, while those who ignore this are losing business to their competition. Of course, we should take care not to dismiss Yahoo or Bing quite yet. They do still represent nearly a third of all Internet searches. Therefore, if you can't get high positions in Google, top rankings in BOTH Yahoo and Bing will still keep you in the game. Ultimately though, it is vital that a business have good positions in Google for its relevant keywords.
Yes. A website may "have" an unlimited number of keywords. Note: when we say "have a keyword", we mean that a page on the site is "optimized" for a given keyword, and therefore is coming up "somewhere" when people search for that keyword. Of course, being "somewhere" on the list of search results does not always mean that you are getting seen by the majority of people doing that search. It means only that you are somewhere on the list. To be seen by the majority of the searching public, you must be in the top 10 listings.
No, not generally. Not with Natural Rankings anyway. It is usually not possible with search engine rules as they currently are. The only exceptions are keywords that have little or no competition (and are therefore very easily ranked).
Having only one keyword, you have one chance of getting visitors – those that use THAT search phrase (where you come up on page one). When you have several keywords for which you rank on page one, then you will see far greater results. It's like fishing – use one "hook" and catch one fish at a time or use a "net" and catch many more at a time. Building a "network" of keywords that you come up near the top of the list, a business can enjoy the sales from thousands of visitors per month. As long as each keyword is producing sales, the more you have, the better off you are.
After a website has been online for over six months or more, and is well-ranked for at least one keyword, getting additional keywords positioned on page one of the major engines is faster than that very first keyword. The older a site is, the easier is becomes to achieve good rankings for ANY keywords.
Each has its plus and minus points. Paid Ads are very fast. You can pay today, and your ad is online within minutes. Natural Rankings, however, require months of careful planning, adjusting, and waiting.
Paid Ads are expensive and are getting more so every year. A recent survey indicated that Paid Ads cost over four times the price of our Search Engine Optimization (to get Natural Rankings).
The best overall strategy is to use Paid Ads to test out various keywords and prove that they generate sales, then use SEO and get Natural Rankings that cost far less per year to maintain..
The chart below summarizes the advantages/disadvantages of Paid Ads vs Natural Rankings.

This has evolved into a very complex procedure whereby web sites are "optimized" to improve their visibility in the major search engines on the Internet.
This whole process gets very mind-boggling when you consider that each search engine has a different set of rules that it uses in deciding a web site's ranking. On top of that, each search engine periodically changes their rules in order to improve its overall results for the public.
In order to get high rankings in search engines such as Google, Yahoo, Bing, etc., a web site must contain very exact percentages of its chosen key words. Additionally, numerous other factors must be taken into account that can affect one's ranking.
The manipulation of the results of search engines is very tricky. Should one "over-do it", some search companies will penalize your ranking, or worse yet, totally ban your site!
Yes, but some use Metatags more than others. In general, Metatags play a very small part in the process of optimizing a website. It is best to use only one main tag; the Title tag. Misuse of these tags can lead to penalties.
